The documentation describes many personalities \u2014 aristocrats, clerics, orators, ambassadors, crusaders, travellers, pilgrims, intellectuals, students \u2014 of social origins ranging from <em>nobilis <\/em>to <em>homo novus <\/em>who arrived in Rome and in the lands of the Church throughout the Middle Ages.
